Super, lovable dog, Iva, celebrated over 450 days since we rescued her. We haven't had the heart to tell her that she has been with Love of Labs all this time and has not had anyone to adopt her. Please help her. We want her to find her forever home before she reaches 500 days in foster care. She is so sweet and didn't deserve to die in a shelter, but she is ready for a loving and caring forever home. Iva is a fully vetted and spade female lab mix about three (3) years old. She loves to snuggle on the couch and bed. She has been working on staying off the couch and bed, but let's face it, she really likes to snuggle next to you. She really likes to be scratched under the chin and will nudge your hand to get you to pet her. She is petite and only weighs about 50 pounds. She is house trained and crate trained. She loves her crate and hangs out in it with the door open especially during thunderstorms. She does not need her crate. She stays out in the house when her foster parents are gone. She likes to go to the window and watch for animals. She loves to watch squirrels, chipmunks, birds, rabbits, cats, etc. She likes squeaky toys and frozen peanut butter kongs. Exercise is very important to Iva. She loves to run and chase squirrels. She needs a fenced in the yard to enjoy the outdoors. (She will not do well on an electric fence.) Her foster parents take her bicycling and roller blading. If you have a dog sled, she would be great for it. If you are a runner, she is the dog for you. It is funny, but she hops like a kangaroo especially when sneaking up on squirrels. She really enjoys walks and has been walking very well with either a harness or gentle leader. She must always be on a leash. She should never be off leash. She currently lives with her foster brother, another lab. They play together and sleep next to each other. It did take Iva a little time to warm up to him with a slow and steady introduction, but now they are BFF's. Her past has left her a little anxious, so she needs a lot of time to warm-up to new dogs. She needs calm and patience to get familiar with new environments. Iva is very smart and a quick learner. She has been to group training, but she can always use more training. She knows her name as well as sit, stay, no, load, unload, come, off and down. She loves to ride in the car and jumps inside on her own. She does not live with any children, but has had fun with visitors who are 3, 12 and 14. She likes to meet new people and is looking forward to meeting you and finding a new forever home.
